Dr. King is correct. I’ve only been to one truly integrated church — Victory Bible in Lawrence — a great church.
I think Church leaders should define what mission God has specifically called them to, and then focus their efforts on that (not that you can’t do more than one thing, but if you don’t do one thing well…) If your mission is to reach lost people–that should include any & all lost people. If you mission is to grow believers, same deal. If relationships with people who are racially diverse aren’t easy for someone, that’s a heart issue (my opinion!). Once that’s been addressed, then inviting any people to church will be easy/hard/non-issue for you depending on your understanding of the gospel.

This articles raises some great questions:
Do think Dr. King’s statement that Sunday morning is the most racially segregated time in America still ring true?
Should a church even strive to be racially diverse? And how does it do this in a genuine way?
What might be some of the difficulties in worshiping in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic faith community?
What do you’ll think?
